Stratus 2016 Semillon BA – 90 points

Stratus 2016 Semillon BA

A very nice sweet wine from Stratus Vineyards. Located in the Niagara Lakeshore region, their Botrytis Semillon has been absent for the last few years, and the 2016 marks only the third time it has been made.

It is aromatically rich and boasts aromas of orange marmalade, honey, ripe cantaloupe and ginger. The 2 years spent in old French oak comes through on the palate. It has decent acidity and packs a bit of a punch at 14.4% ABV.

Culmina Unicus Gruner Veltliner 2017 – 91 points

A rare find in the Okanagan Valley, Culmina’s 100% Gruner Veltliner is an excellent example of this varietal. You’ll find all the aromas you’d expect from an Austrian Gruner in this version from the Margaret’s Bench vineyard. Full flavor ripeness showcases pronounced grapefruit, lemon zest, white pepper and a decent amount of herbaceous aromas paired with mouth-watering acidity and a decently long finish.
