Tasting Notes

We have decided to use the 100-point scoring system for our wine reviews at Andrew Raines – Decanted. You will find comprehensive tasting notes and additional information included for all reviews.

The ratings are as follows:

  • 98-100: Exceptional – A wonderful, incredibly complex and memorable wine.
  • 95-97: Outstanding – An excellent wine of great complexity and character.
  • 90-94: Highly Recommended – Very good wine with impressive complexity.
  • 85-89: Recommended – Very well-made, balanced and enjoyable.
  • 80-84: Decent – Well-made, straightforward wine.
  • 75-79: Fair – Without fault but contains limited personality.
  • 70-74: Poor – Unbalanced or bland with limited character.
  • < 70: Faulty – Displays faults. Do not drink.
